Enrolment at Te Uku School

Enrolment information

It is helpful to know of any expected enrolments well in advance. For a new entrant, pre-enrol when your child turns 4. This helps us know when you are coming. Te Uku School is a 'full' primary school as we cover Years 0-8.  Year 0 students are new entrants that start primary school in the second half of the year, and move into Year 1 the following year. Our cut off date is the 1st of July each year.

Enrolment Scheme

Te Uku School is governed by an enrolment scheme. The enrolment scheme came into effect on 7 February 2024. 

In-Zone Enrolments

All students who live within the zone are entitled to enrol at Te Uku School (see attached map). This is determined on the sighting of two valid documents as proof of address. All documents must be current and dated within the month of your child starting school.

Out-Of-Zone Enrolment

If you live out of zone you will need to ballot for a place at Te Uku School. Please read the information below regarding the ballot system.

Ballot information:

We recommend you put your child's name forward into the ballot before they turn 5, the earlier the better. This supports us in being able to have the correct staffing required for the students we are expecting. It also allows for all students to be able to have multiple visits prior to starting school.

Below is the official criteria and priority for acceptance via a ballot (From Ministry of Education)

1. 1. students accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school (not applicable at Te Uku School)

1. 2. siblings of current students/grandparenting (see “Grandparenting” link below)
   3. siblings of former students
   4. children of former students
   5. children of board employees and board members all other students.
